I am experienced at providing both structural and development editing and adopting style guides for both print and electronic texts. Ideally I work closely with the author(s) providing content feedback and agreeing content changes as required. Sensitivity and accessibility are key features of this process.

Product development

I have experience in identifying product opportunities, creating features and benefits for specific markets and user groups, commissioning authors and content creators and drawing up a content specification. I work closely with authors and content creators to ensure that the content provided s compliant with the product design and specification. I also work with market research and user feedback to ensure that the developed product meets user needs and will eb successful in the market.

Project management

Bringing in publishing projects to specification, on time and within budget – the three lodestars of successful publishing project management! I use standard project management tools and methodology to work with the project team and ensure successful collaboration. A key feature of successful project management is realism – adopting a realistic schedule, with real costs and quality considerations included in the mix. And communication – letting everybody involved know what is happening at all times, especially if unexpected issues arise that need swift decisions and resolution.

Consultancy

I can provide a complete consultancy service, from devising and commissioning products through to final delivery of print or electronic formats. I can advise of strategy in terms of product / list development, range extension and competitive advantage.
